Its what you want isn’t it? Are you not entertained?
Hip-Hop beef gets our adrenaline running, we love the audacity, the fact that our favourite rappers put someone on blast or retaliates, we love the build up, the rumours, and then the diss track that drop online.
50 Cent was raised on Beef, his career was born out of assassination attempts on his character, as a result of this, get on the wrong side him, he is a lyrical preacher of death. He will create a sermon that could end your aspirations, he has laid to rest and buried a lot of careers. Recently 50′s own career ascension has been questioned by many. Too many singles not connecting or sticking, to many mixtapes being dropped, he’s not been that 2003 50 for a while. People have been talking. Questioning his ability, relevance in todays HipHop arena, saying he’s gone soft. Since the G-Unit era, we’ve seen the rise of new empires that have gone from strength to strength; The YMCMBs, the MMGs, TDEs, The G.O.O.D. guys that Roc the Nations.
French Montanna recently aired these sentiments in a recent interview with the good folk at Complex.com. 50 saw this repeated on HipHopDX.com. According to French..
“I feel like beef hurt him. I feel like it helped Ross unite people,” Montana explained during an interview with Complex.com. “That’s why Maybach Music is one of the biggest labels. It just makes sense…Of course, Ross is on his fifth album. And like I said, he’s only getting bigger. This is going to be Ross’ first platinum album. He never went platinum. So when 50 came up, 50 sold 10 million. Then after his first album he just kept on going down. You think 50 could come out and sell 10 million now?”.
50 responded by taking it to the tweets with his 8 Million+ strong following…
On the evening that the BET HipHop awards air a tribute to Chris Lighty, where 50 reconciled with Fat Joe, it looks like a new conflict has arisen.
Has French awoken the sleeping giant? Are French Montanna’s credentials tarnished by this assault on his character? Will he be Ja Rule’d? or will he hold his own like The Game and Rick Ross did in recent kerfuffles.
We’ve witnessed the following conflicts…
50 vs. Ja Rule
50 vs. Murda Inc
50 vs. The Source Magazine
50 vs. Fat Joe
50 vs. Reading Festival
50 vs. Jadakiss
50 vs. The Game
50 vs Dipset
50 vs. DJ Khaled
50 vs. Young Buck
50 vs. Kanye West
50 vs. Rick Ross
50 has also fired shots at Green Lantern, Lil Wayne, Oprah, Jay-z, Diddy, Dr Dre, Interscope, Beats by Dre, and more. Will it ever stop? Can’t we all just get along?
Clearly not. The Drama continues. Catch me this Friday from 10pm on 1xtra, we’re gonna break down the art of war, the eternal conflict of 50 Cent vs. The World. No one is safe, Rappers, moguls, Drs, labels festivals……anyone can get it.
