From DDots forth-coming project ‘foolSgold’ which drops next month.
So how did this come about? Read below as he explains how the saga begins….
“As most know, for the last 4 years I’ve been running DDotOmen.com, as much as I love it, at one point it became a meaningless and monotonous job curating a somewhat successful music blog. This resulted in me being stifled creatively in other parts of my life and dissatisfied with the music I was hearing. After digging around I remember how much Santigold’s debut album was a muse to me years ago I thoroughly enjoyed the project when it first came out but eventually played it out as she hadn’t put out any music in three years. However a silver lining would occur as she started releasing new singles for her sophomore album Master of My Make Believe. I fell in love all over again after hearing “Disparate Youth”. It turns out fate would set up a chance meeting between Santi and myself in the Fader Fort at SXSW. She was really nice, I told her I wrote a verse to “Disparate Youth” and she laughed and said “Already? it JUST came out” I was like “Exactly!”. She posed for a picture and told me to let her hear the verse when it’s done, from that sparked this idea to turn that one verse into a whole project sampling and creating all new songs from her catalog. I shared my plan with a select few who happened to be big fans as well and…yeah, we came up with this. The full project is being mixed and finalized, and out early October.”
Definitely one for the hard drive.
