  • WHO WAS THE BEST MC IN 2010?

Big up to the MTV Base team for making this initiative, and trying to highlight the success of our scene. Its great that we can actually have this conversation, but If your gonna do a top 10 based on the best of MC of 2010, you need to take into account the following:

    1. The Best = most successful.
This means your top 10 is there to represent the people who have achieved the most success, this should have been based on sales, influence on Popular Culture, Airplay, Ticket sales, Awards, performances, etc. It should have been a basic mathematical equation, there shouldn’t have been a panel. If this was the case, it would be a very different chart….do your research.

    2. You really need to make it clear that what the criteria of the chart is.

    3. If your gonna have a panel, make sure the participants are qualified.

    4. Make sure the chart isn’t based on personal opinions of the individual members of the panel.

    5. Which means your panel needs to be unbiased, which means you need to make sure there are no personal allegiances between panel members and the artists, no conflicts of interest, or if you fell out with certain MCs cos you didn’t get an interview or consultancy £££ you shouldn’t be on the panel. If your on the payroll or work with an artist, you shouldn’t be on the panel.

Big up Yusuff for trying to do the impossible……please everyone.
But it probably would have been better if the Top 10 was ‘Who was your Favourite MC of 2010′, and the Public voted instead…

    2. DJ TDB, February 21, 2011:

Harry Shotta! Surely must take this title. Mr shotalot is probably the most diverse MC we have in this country. From Hip Hop to Drum n Bass to Grime to Dubstep and beyond! Versitility is Harry Shotta’s mainstay!you give him a beat of any kind….. And he will create Bars to make ya head nod!

      Simples.

Harry Shotta gets my vote each and everytime.

      Stay Blessed.

I like what you’re trying to do brother… But this 1st past the post poll kills it. If you want a top 10 that reps what our people are saying then do it like AV – puttin numbers from 1 to 10 next to names.

    8. i(L)harryshotshot, February 21, 2011:

      Harry Shotta!

    9. jamma, February 21, 2011:

ulot sayin harry shotta are so gassed..jus coz he done a couple of freestyle off other peoples beats and got a bit of club buzz most people dont know him and for the simple fact he hasnt got any banger..im a hard grime fan but its gotta go to tinie tempah noone else has had the success hes had in 2010, so not really any discussion.

    10. Hasse, February 21, 2011:

How can Kano not be on this list? His album belongs in the top 5 of 2010. Disappointing

    11. Alton AKA BUXI D, February 21, 2011:

Withou a Doubt GHETTS IS THE BEST MC OF 2010 he thinks with intensity that is expressed in his lyrics which are versatile do your research i.e. Legend in the making, Greatest, We control this, my sperm on Calm before the Storm Mixtape (more like an album) released late 2010 and proved that no one can beat him in a clash as he confidently dismantled P Money Lyrical abilities on Destruction of the Eiffel Tower which was not only Dub or Battle lyric but he displayed various flows, content with a range of subject matters and a banging Chorus which sealed P Money and any other MCs fate if they attempted to send for Ghetts. He Proved it even though he didn’t want to or had to as his back catalougue speaks for itself i.e Freedom of Speech, Ghetto Gospel, and 2000 and Life respectively.

I’m routing for Ghetts to win, but whether he does or not, no MC can ever say that he is not an unprecedented Lyrcist who is more than worthy to be Heralded as one of the Greatest if not the Greatest MCs of our time.

      Real Fans Vote and Support!

Haters Let go of the Pride and show acknowledgement.

Again Vote Ghetts for Best MC of 2010 it doesn’t cost nothing more than a moment of your time.

Alton AKA BUXI (formely in Bad Breed SW9)

    12. keveh, February 21, 2011:

Good points Sem, but who would you have had in the panel? Who wasn’t worthy if their spot?

    13. Alex, February 22, 2011:

In reply to Jamma – True, Tinie Tempah has had the most chart sucess etc. BUT…. hes signed….90% of the MCs on that list arent signed and the fact is Harry Shottas made a huge name for himself purely on his lyrical talent, without the help of a record deal and promotion backing etc. Hes the one whos made it happen by his skills and hardwork over the years – he may not been known on such a widespread scale as of yet, but he stormed into the dnb scence only 3 yrs ago and now hes doing 3 or 4 shows a weekend, gettin play by semtex n mista jam on 1xtra n radio 1 and won 2 awards…all off his own back. Plus his content and delivery are spot on, there wont be any ive been southampton but ive never been too scunthorpe lyrics in his bars.

And to reply to ur comment that he hasnt had a banger yet – i suggest u listen to one of the EP’s hes released (again off his own back) Just coz his tunes arent known to the world yet dont mean he hasnt got any bangers waiting in the wings.

And finally in reply to ur comment that hes done a few freestyles off other peoples beats – isn’t that the whole POINT of bein an MC? they MC over PRODUCERS beats – take the tinie tempah pass out tune for example, he was MC’in over someone elses beat, he didnt create that beat so does what ur saying apply to him aswell?

    29. kobashi, February 24, 2011:

How can Rhyme Asylum not be on this list or fliptrix. Damn you left Ramson Badbonez off the list also! Where is Life MC, Kashmere or Verb T. Semtex do you actually listen to lyricism? Have you even bothered checking out the Albums/mixtapes from the above mentioned?

I dont listen to semtex radio show as whenever I have before he never plays the real lyrical shit. The list should be about skills first and foremost.

The majority of MC’s on that list are straight up wack lyrically!
