As part of my own tribute to Guru, last night I aired an interview that I did with Guru in 07′.
This interview was never aired because I didn’t feel the sentiment of the last 3 minutes of the interview. At the end of the interview Solar started talking shit about the Gangstarr legacy, and the fans etc. …..that part was deleted.
I felt it was right to air the interview because it reflected how much of a cool person Guru was, and his dedication to music. When I asked him if he was still cool with Premier he said ‘yeah, but I haven’t talked to him in a while’, but didn’t want to talk on the situation. Despite the fact he didn’t want to talk about it, he wasn’t malicious or say any of the stuff that was allegedly put in that ‘letter’.
Most of us fall out with our family or our best friends at some point in our lives. The situation between Premier and Guru was no different, it’s just unfortunate that they didn’t get a chance to put closure on the situation.
Regardless, the music of Gangstarr lives on.
