On the eve of copping his Grammy Nominations, Mos Def was in the UK and passed through 1xtra. Mos is one of the most important HipHop artists. Truthfully he could have gone the big business rapper route years ago, but he’s stayed true to himself and is purely focussed on the art of HipHop.
For me, Mos Def is one of the G.O.A.T.S. A legendary MC who can put together a hot album, but tear the arse out of any MC, his stage shows are truly unique.

Ok i agree with you Jay put him on gave him the oppurtunity he was looking for and Beans was foolish in that he couldn’t stay out of jail and manage his money like many people in hip hop. But once he was in jail he didn’t help him out to get out of there, that’s the problem 50 has with Jay not any of the other stuff which went on behind the scenes and I agree with 50 on this one you always have to help your boys out. Btw what was your opinion on my take on the Game situation with 50 you agree or disagree?
Jay put him on, gave him the opportunity.
Beans couldn’t stay out of jail, didnt manage his money.
There’s only so much you can do for someone.
Also, there’s probably other sh*t that has gone down that we will never know.
Forget hiphop rules, Jay gave him a chance in life. Thats all you can do.
Not too sure about whether Game would have gotten out look at how long Bishop Lamont has been in the studi with Dre for. Even if Game managed to get out somehow don’t know about whether that would be through Detox cause we dont know if that will ever come out! I think you will agree with me on this one 50 made (50 wrote 6 tracks on documentary) Game’s first album the best album the Game has put out so far and without that album i think he would not be where he is now where people round the world know who he is. So in a way 50 really did give Game that buzz which he definitely wouldn’t have had if 50 hadn’t been rolling with him at the time and so in a way he is responsible for his success but you didn’t feel this was the case but you felt it was the case with Beans. With Beans i honestly believe he would have gotten in to the view of the public one way or another as the philly movement was really big at the time with freeway and everybody else breaking out into the mainstream. Personally I don’t think he would have been as big without Jigga but i think like Game he would be out there. But the whole issue here isnt whether the success of Beans is due to Jay or not its that Jay sold Beans out when he was put inside by refusing to take responsibility for Beans actions if anything was to go wrong. Now this is the fundamental argument where 50 believes Jay was disloyal cause the first thing you do if your so called friends is help each other out when the other guy was in need. In this case when Beans was in need Jay disowned him now that in the hip hop culture is a big thing cause if your so called friends can’t trust you who can? 50 is just making the point that Jay never saw it as a friendship but as a business deal which is not the case with 50 and his crew most people agree with this, what about you?
Nah, you would know about the game one way or another with Dre at the helm. Whether through Detox 2, or by appearing on another artists album.
50 was destined to make it, whether he sighed with Dre or not. Every label was trying to sign on the strength of his mixtape buzz. He had unprecedented street heat.
Can you honestly say the same for Beans?
About the are we talking about Beanie cause of Jay and the comparison 50 made with that and Game. I think he’s right you’re saying that about jay but with 50 you say its a different matter. Well it isnt its the same thing. In fact i think its a worse in 50 and Game case cause without 50 he wouldnt have had a hit 1st album and everything which followed. He would have ended up instead sitting with Dre in the studio for a few more years putt nothing out and walk away like Rakim and Eve.
